Glee Club is our school choir combining the talents of children across Key Stage 2. Every Autumn, children from year 3 upwards are invited to audition for one of the sought-after slots. This year over 70 children auditioned, showing how the popularity has continued to grow in the last few years. With this in mind we have extended the number of children, resulting in a more full, choral sound.
With specialist training, the children learn to sing together in unison, blending their voices for an overall beautiful sound, as well as singing in rounds and two or three part harmonies. The children build up their skills throughout the year and perform in a number of concerts both inside and out of school.
In recent years we had the pleasure of performing at the Royal Festival Hall as a part of an enormous choir. The children sang alongside a band of professional musicians and with ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ singer Tommy Blaize. The amazing sound filled the hall and thrilled the audience. What a fantastic experience for all!
Last year we performed at various venues around Greenwich including the Old Royal Naval College Chapel and Blackheath Concert Halls. The children have challenged themselves more than ever before and have achieved the much-coveted status of Lead Choir for Greenwich.
