Year 4 Talk for Writing

Year 2 School Trip to Greenwich 22.09.17

Year 2 are going to explore Greenwich on Friday 22nd September! They are going to be set a challenge to take photos of different landmarks. How exciting this will be!

Adding two digit numbers 19.09.17

Today Year 2 learnt how to add two digit numbers together using a new method- the column method. We split the number into tens and units and add these together. We also used dienes to work them out.

Maths Open Morning 2017

On Thursday 16th March, we welcomed parents to our Maths Open Morning, where they were given the opportunity to watch a typical Maths No Problem Lesson and support their child in class. There was a huge turnout with fantastic feedback from all. A successful and informative morning for all.

African Masks Workshop

Year 5 made African Masks made out of clay (in our very own Art and DT studio), with Marie-Louise Coffi from Heritage Ceramics. They made a mask that would represent the King in the Republic of Benin, which is on the West Coast of Africa.

Shakespeare Workshop

Year 5 took part in a Shakespeare workshop, which was kindly delivered by Emma Manton. The children had so much fun; they looked at Shakespeare’s language, characters and themes throughout his play ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’.

A big congratulations to Ms Seymour

A big congratulations to Ms Seymour, our wonderful cook that was nominated and shortlisted for a National FSM Award in the Education category, which she won! The awards acknowledge the prestigious accolade of the catering staff. The awards ceremony took place on Monday 21st November.

Literacy Open Morning

Visit of Children’s Author – Mac Barnett

Children from Invicta Primary School joined us to welcome children’s author Mac Barnett, who is currently visiting the UK. Mac Barnett read to the children from two of his books. He also discussed his books, his career, and his inpirations with the children, signed copies of books, and answered questions.

Judo Club!

Starting this term, Sherington will be running a Judo Club as one of its many after school activities. Two Senseis came and gave our children an exciting demonstration during assembly.
