Year 4 have been learning their latest talk for writing text – The Fountain of Life. They have been using drama and actions to retell the story.
Year 2 are going to explore Greenwich on Friday 22nd September! They are going to be set a challenge to take photos of different landmarks. How exciting this will be!
Today Year 2 learnt how to add two digit numbers together using a new method- the column method. We split the number into tens and units and add these together. We also used dienes to work them out.

On Thursday 16th March, we welcomed parents to our Maths Open Morning, where they were given the opportunity to watch a typical Maths No Problem Lesson and support their child in class. There was a huge turnout with fantastic feedback from all. A successful and informative morning for all.

Year 5 made African Masks made out of clay (in our very own Art and DT studio), with Marie-Louise Coffi from Heritage Ceramics. They made a mask that would represent the King in the Republic of Benin, which is on the West Coast of Africa.
Year 5 took part in a Shakespeare workshop, which was kindly delivered by Emma Manton. The children had so much fun; they looked at Shakespeare’s language, characters and themes throughout his play ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’.

On Thursday 12th November we welcomed parents and carers from across the school to join us for a poetry themed Literacy Open Morning. Once again the event was well attended, and those who attended left with a better understanding of how poetry is taught across the school.
On Tuesday 10th November, Nigerian Triple-Jumper, Tosin Oke, came to visit Sherington to inspire us all to be the best that we can be. We marvelled at his athleticism and were motivated by his dedication to his sport. Children from Invicta Primary School joined us to welcome children’s author Mac Barnett, who is currently visiting the UK. Mac Barnett read to the children from two of his books. He also discussed his books, his career, and his inpirations with the children, signed copies of books, and answered questions.
Starting this term, Sherington will be running a Judo Club as one of its many after school activities. Two Senseis came and gave our children an exciting demonstration during assembly.
